Q. How does wireless internet work?

A. PDQLink Wireless Internet uses License-Exempt radios to send and receive data through the air. The signals originate from a radio tower in your area and you receive the signal with a small antenna mounted on the outside of your house.

Q. Is this antenna big and ugly?

A. No! PDQLink Wireless Internet uses the highest quality equipment available today. The antennas we use vary in size from 8 inches by 4 inches  and can be easily hidden under the eaves of your house. They are paint-able too! Take a look at one that is installed.

Q. How do I know for sure if I can get PDQLink Wireless Internet?

A. There are basically two sets of criteria that your location must meet. First, you need to be within our designated service area. Second, you need to have line-of-sight to our radio tower from the your house. But you really don't have to worry about any of this. Just call us and we'll come by and do a FREE Location Evaluation. At that time we'll determine if you can get PDQLink Wireless Internet.

Q. Is this like satellite internet?

A. Not at all. It's much better than satellite because there is far less latency (delay) and it's more reliable. Wireless internet is similar to broadband cable or DSL when it comes to the speeds and the reliability. The only way wireless internet is similar to satellite internet is that we do need to mount an antenna on the outside of your building, but it's much smaller than a satellite dish.

Q. Do I need to pay extra for an ISP when I sign up for PDQLink Wireless Internet?

A. No. Your high-speed connection to the internet and the ISP service are included in each of the connection packages.

More Answers to Your Questions

Q. What hidden fees do I have to pay to get PDQLink Wireless Internet?

A. None! The total fees include your one time installation charge and the monthly connection fee that applies to the connection speed that you choose. That's it! No taxes, no maintenance fees, no administration fees and we don't even charge cancellation fees.

Q. Can I see how well it works before I sign up?

A. Unfortunately we do not have a location set up for demonstrations. But if you do sign up for PDQLink Wireless Internet we'll give you 30 days to evaluate the service. If you decide to cancel within the first 30 days then we'll refund your equipment purchase but not your installation fee.

Q. Can I use AOL or MSN with PDQLink Wireless Internet?

A. Yes you can. If you decide to do that you will need to subscribe to AOL or MSN as well as PDQLink Wireless Internet although there is no need to use them. Both companies offer reduced rates for their service if you have your own internet connection. For AOL you would subscribe to their "AOL Broadband" service and for MSN you would subscribe to their "MSN Plus" package.

Q. What will my e-mail address be if I use PDQLink Wireless Internet?

A. PDQLink Wireless e-mail accounts end with "@PDQLink.com". Therefore, your e-mail address would be something like "username@PDQLink.com". PDQLink Wireless Internet highly recommends you use Google's free email. While PDQLink does offer our subscribers free email accounts, Google is much better at it than we are. PDQLink Wireless Internet tries to concentrate on connectivity.

Q. If I start with the slower plan now will I have to pay to upgrade to a faster plan?

A. No. The antenna/radio that is mounted on your house will support any of the speeds available and we currently do not charge an extra fee to upgrade service plans.

Q. Who owns the antenna/radio that you install on my house? Can I buy it myself somewhere?

A. PDQLink Wireless Internet can sell the customers radio to them. However, customers are not required to purchase their radio from PDQLink Wireless. In most cases, our customers will own the antenna/radio that we installed on their house. This is a benefit to you because you don't have to worry about paying for a new one if it breaks or if it needs to be upgraded in the future. If you really really want to use your own equipment then call us and we can talk about it...we're pretty flexible and we'll do our best to work with you.

Q. Can I use more than one computer with my PDQLink DSL?

A. Yes. You can use as many computers as you want and we do not charge for extra computers. PDQLink Wireless Internet provides a single network connection to your home. If you have multiple computers you will need to buy a router which will allow you to split your single connection into multiple connections. PDQLink Wireless Internet does sell routers and if you buy one from us we can install and configure it for you for a small fee.

Q: What is wireless broadband connectivity?

A: Fixed wireless broadband provides high speed Internet access without cable, fiber or phone line connections. Data is securely transmitted wirelessly for two-way communications capable of data, video and voice.

Q: How do we get connected to the Internet?

A: We install a small antenna and radio unit on the roof or side of your house or building. The antenna is then aimed towards one of our Internet broadcasting towers. This establishes your wireless link to the Internet. Your computer or network is then connected via a cat 5 cable drop.

Q: How long does it take for installation?

A: Basic installs take around two hours to complete. Not all installs are equal and some may require more or less time to complete. In climate weather can extend the install time as well as icy or wet roofs. We try very hard to keep our installers safe and forbid them from doing installs in unsafe conditions.

Q: Does rain, snow, fog or other weather affect service levels?

A: No our services are not directly affected by the weather.

Q: If my bandwidth needs grow can I increase my bandwidth speeds?

A: Yes! You can always increase your service levels based on your growing needs. The bandwidth adjustment can be done remotely and does not require a site visit.

Q: DSL and or CABLE internet is not available in our area, will that prevent us from getting your wireless services?

A: NO! Our wireless services do not use fiber or any other hardwires land line links to connect you to the Internet and therefor we are not constrained in offering our services based on availability of these facilities.

Q: Why is your wireless service better than cable or DSL?

A: Cable services speed and performance are based on how many users are using it in your area. A cable connection will slow down with each additional user on the network. DSL service quality depends on your distance from the nearest central office. If you are further than 18,000 feet you do not even qualify. Wireless Internet is not affected by any of the above downfalls. Our wireless is also a symmetrical service which means your upload speeds are as fast as your download speeds. Cable and DSL or Asymmetrical services, they allow you fast downloads while your uploads are a lot slower than your downloads.
